National Meetings

The Croatian National Meeting on Ratification of the FCTC was held on February 27, 2006 in Zagreb.

The FCTC was signed on June 2, 2004. The ratification process is ongoing.

National Meeting on Capacity Building in Tobacco Control

The Croatian National meeting was held on April 16 and 17 2007 in hotel Palace in Zagreb. On the first day of the meeting (conference and legal workshop), the audience included 44 participants, while the second day of the meeting (economic workshop) attracted 19 participants. The legal workshop was geared towards the suboptimal implementation of the Croatian tobacco law and particularly at Sanitary Inspectors – as they are in charge of implementation in practice, while the Economic workshop was geared towards discussion on taxation of tobacco products and its influence on consumption and revenue raising for the government, but also equally towards smuggling and the black market and their impact on tobacco control efforts. Important conclusions were reached at both workshops, and representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare have agreed to formally present them to the Minister of Health and Social Welfare.
